The Landscape Design Minor in the Plant Science Department prepares students for the design of residential sites and small commercial projects. Learning and applying basic design and graphic communication principles in the arrangement of plant material and hardscape elements, students learn to create cohesive landscape environments. Students majoring in Horticulture, Turf and Soil Science and Natural Resources Management and Engineering find this option particularly attractive because it opens additional avenues related to their chosen field.
 Landscape Design minor requirements - a total of 16 credits including:
HORT 3710 Design of Small Spaces
LAND 2110 Landscape Architecture: Graphics I - Design Drawing
LAND 2210 Landscape Architecture: Theory I - The Cultural Landscape
And three of the following courses:
PLSC 3410 Woody Landscape Plants I
PLSC 3420 Woody Landscape Plants II
HORT 2430
Herbaceous Ornamental Plants
hORT 2750 Landscape Plant Maintenance
LAND 2220 Landscape Architecture: Theory II - Design History
LAND 3230W Landscape Architecture: Theory III - Environmental Planning
Students must earn a combined grade point average of 2.5 or higher for all courses listed above. At least 12 of the credits taken to satisfy the minor must be from courses that are not required for the student's major or other minors within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. |
